I never take time to read anymore. Perhaps it is that I get caught up in my projects and any downtime I have, I want to spend it cooking dinner, catching up on sleep or binge watching Netflix.
However, this Christmas break, I picked up BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert at the airport on a long layover and devoured it while finally having a chance to check out from reality ... on a lovely hammock on Harbour Island. The ironic thing is that this book was a total reality check for me.
My talented friend Lindsey of Eat Pray Photo was the first to recommend this book to me before several other creative women in my circle quickly followed. It is the perfect read for anyone trying to begin a creative career or simply keep moving forward with the one they have without giving up or becoming discouraged while fearing failure (ahem... moi).
Anyway, I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has creative talents and desires - no matter the field. Now, I can work towards being more of a Trickster than a Martyr (this will make sense come pg. 221) and will strive to battle the Hungry Ghosts (p. 248).
This was the prefect book to start my 2017 off on an inspiring note!
